New paper about the origin and maintenance of insular butterfly diversity
A paper on the ecological factors driving the rise and the reduction in butterfly diversity at population level on islands have just been published on Diversity and Distribution! I collaborated to this wonderful project lasted 15 years and led by Dr. Leonardo Dapporto, at University of Florence. More than 1200 barcoding sequences, the coupling of ecological and historical data and the participation of amateur naturalists and citizens! A collective effort to understand the butterflies diversity of the Tuscan Archipelago, and try to pave the way to properly defend them!
